The Backpack Program
The Backpack program provides bags of food to children who are chronically hungry. Students are identified by teachers, and volunteers discretely deposit the bags in the children’s backpacks during the school day. The Backpack Program distributes to over 300 students per week. Funding for the Backpack Program comes from our annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser, hosted annually in coordination with Hungry Hill Center for Art, Education, and Outreach.
Established in 2018, the Butte High School Bag Program provides bags of food to high school students. These bags contain enough food to cover meals for a weekend. High school bags are available anonymously and include items for breakfast, lunch, and snack items for two days.
Community Meals
The Butte Emergency Food Bank and the Knights of Columbus formed a partnership in 2012 to provide meals and a warm place to enjoy a meal. We are immensely grateful to have formed this partnership because it enables us to fulfill our Mission of feeding those less fortunate. On Tuesday and Thursday a warm meal is served at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 224 W. Park St. Everyone is welcome.
